Arpilleras
Arpilleras
are pictures made entirely of hand sewn cloth. They are textile
appliqués depicting
village
scenes
such as dancers, harvesting, weddings, bull fights and I've seen a
few that were jungle scenes.
Some
are made in the southern shanty towns of Lima, Peru to give women work
to
support their families.
Proceeds also help maintain day care centers
for children and the elderly.
